Hmmmmmm, are you sure the tab says slide? A pull off would be more natural there. A slide is normally between fretted notes.
Try this, maybe:
-----2---S---1----po-0
Slide from 2 to 1 and immediately lift your finger off to sound a second note.

its hard to explain it but ill try
this is what i do and it works well i play with the pick sideways all the time which makes it easier to pinch the string after picking it, just barely nudge the string with ur finger after u pick the note.
