Why do some bands replace their members?!

Question: I know, they replace their members because they were : tired, too old, starting their own bad, etc... but, some bands change their main singer which makes it really un-personal to the fans... making it "new"... i mean, wasn't it easy to keep up with the beatles? it was just John, Ringo, Paul, and George, easy! but then, in other bands, you see the constant change of the bassist, drummer, or rhythm guitar, which makes it really odd... so, why?

Because the majority want to continue playing and often don't see why the departure of one member should stop them.
Sometimes it effects me, if the musicians sound was unique, and particularly important to the band's dynamics.

What i have a problem with is when more or less the whole band leaves, and one member tries to continue with a whole new band, under the same name.
If you're familiar with Guns N' Roses, you'll know what i mean.
The classic line-up is my favourite band, but the current line-up consists of Axl Rose [original lead vocalist] and a completely new band of losers.
They've lost so many fans, I'll tell you that.
