A few questions about singing.?!

Question: Ok, let me start off. I'm 16 years old. Male, my voice finished changing not long ago, arround last year. I hate my singing voice. Last week, I asked a rate my singing voice and I got ratings of your horrable, to you sing OK and you need alot of work.
In my opinion, I have a large singing range. 2 Weeks ago I tested it out and I almost have 4 octaves. E2-C6.
When I sing in my chest voice, I can sing about half my range, but when I sing that high in my chest voice, it feels like I'm forcing it,and I always have to sing louder to get that high.
Ok, here is my frist question.
1)What is exactly is belting. I was reading answers and I read that you can only belt those notes out in your chest voice.. but I don't understand it.
2)Am I ruining my voice when i force my chest voice? And will I recover if I allready did?
3)Will practicing notes in my Head or falsetto register help me achieve those notes in chest?
4)I've been caughing for almost 3 weeks now. should I stop singing forabit

Ok, I've had experience with this sort of stuff. I'm in a band and I'm studying vocal music at a great talent school. My girlfriends in choir too so I hear about this kind of stuff all the time.

1)Belting is when you sing really loud in your chest voice and you can feel a slight strain.

2)The type of sing you do makes a huge difference. If you're singing choral music you want to stop singing in your chest voice. If you're going more modern, chest voice is fine if not too loud.

3)Not really. They're are two completely different types of singng.

4)If the cough affects your voice, you should.
