Sorry to cut the comedy, but hand gestures and body language is a natural part of speaking.
Just like people in a conversation use their hands to express their thoughts, Rappers (unconsiously) use their hands to express theirs. It's a part of the "body language" of speech. As an entertainer or performer, they need to make their words larger than life, and body language is very important.
You probably even gesture with your hands when you're on a telephone, and the person you're talking to can't see you make the gestures!!
I think, not only rappers move their hands when they rap. If you've noticed even singers of other genres move theirs,too. But not as fast & as often as rappers do, though. It's definitely one way of expressing themselves artistically & they just look so cool in doing so. Can you imagine rappers just standing still, looking dumb? Funny, you should say that!
