Don't buy Fender for Rock or Metal..you've got to be freakin' kidding me. You want good quality so don't buy BC Rich either.
I would recommend Ibanez, Gibson or Epiphone which is a cheaper non-American made Gibson. Schecter makes really good quality guitars as well. Your guitar amp has a lot to do with the sound as well...go for Marshall, Mesa Boogie or Crate (if you can't afford the others). I am not denying Fender makes good quality Guitars and Amps, just not for Hard Rock or Metal.

The Line6 Guitar POD XT is a fantastic investment as well. It can emulate almost any tone you want.

try gibson, martin or fender guitars theyre fuckin good !

i would get a speacal fender electric its a good one to try so go with fender

dude, just go play a ESP viper , play it through a marshall amp, even the cheapest of the vipers (about 200 bucks) sound very tough. they are rock guitars man. i play a esp viper 400 it rocks same or better than my gibson sg. the esp plays smooth and the active electronic pickups are very hot sounding. BUT i suggest that the esp pickups are fine. i also do not suggest fender guitars for metal also the quality of the epiphone is not to good.. only my opinions...
