Should self-accompaniment on keyboard/piano with voice be simple or complex?!

Question: especially during intermission, for a playing by ear rendition of "Fix you" pop/rock

Answers: especially during intermission, for a playing by ear rendition of "Fix you" pop/rock

It depends on your skill level at the piano. If you are an accomplished pianist (years of lessons/public performances/total hand coordination and independence) then yes...the accompaniment can be difficult.

Otherwise you may just want to have some basic chords with simple rhythmic patterns...nothing that would detract from your ability to concentrate on your voice. Hope this helps!
