Do you remember the country artist Lacy J. Dalton?!

Question: Everybody Makes Mistakes was one of my favorite songs as a kid, and it remains one of my favorites today. Takin' It Easy was a good one, Hard Times was a good one, Whisper was a good one, and now that I think about it, when I bought my first three 45s ever, they were:

Some Memories Just Won't Die by Marty Robbins
When You Fall In Love by Don Williams
Slow Down by Lacy J. Dalton

Kinda interesting what we remember about our childhoods, huh?

yes, and until now i forgot about her.. there was this was song i used to listen to over and over and i can't think of it now.. i am gonna have to do some research.. thanks for reminding me...

I remember her But I can't remember any of her songs

Yes, I have her records. Favorite is "Life Is Like A Mountain Railway"because life is.

I remember her,but not one I particulary like.
I think "I'm A Survivor" is done well by her

"Wild Turkey" a popular song at closing time for ladies.
Something about "I'll be dammed if I go home with a Wild Turkey like you" pretty funny. She had a deep throaty voice.

Known to her parents as Jill Byrem, but later changed her name to Lacy J Dalton. She once said that she liked the Name Lacy, and Dalton came from one of her favorite authors. She kept the "J" to remind her who she really was. Great entertainer. "i,m a survivor"..."Crazy Blue eyes"... and "16th avenue" are some of my faves.

Great singer, and songwriter. Best known for "16th Avenue", which actually wasn't written by her, but rather by Tom Schyler.

Another interesting tidbit, I remember seeing Schyler's original handwritten version of 16th Ave at the Country Music Hall of Fame, and he actually wrote "there's cowboys, queers and christians", which was changed to "there's cowboys, drunks and christians".

I love Lacy J Dalton :)
