Anyone ever heard of Josefus?.."Dead Man" was superb in my mind...?!
Question: Yeah, great Texas band. Their self titled (2nd) album was great too, and was superior to their debut, 'Dead Man' in my opinion. Check it out if you haven't already. There was also an album of previously unreleased material from 1969, that was issued in the early 90's sometime called 'Get Off My Case'. It was OK, but sounded more like rehearsal material for 'Dead Man'.
Another great Texas band from that era is Corpus, who released one excellent hard rock album called ' Creation a Child'. I think it's been reissued on CD recently. They sounded like a cross between 'Grand Funk Railroad' and 'Bloodrock' (another Texas band).
Nitzinger, Tin House (originally from Florida, but formed in Texas), and 'Viola Crayola' were some other great hard rock bands from the 'Lone Star State'. I love all those late 60's early 70's Texas heavy bands, and still own all my original vinyl pressings which I've babied over the years!
