Mr rock and roll allan freed one for us oldies?!
Question: i have just watched the life story of allan freed american dj and promoter of the fiftys who forced bigoted tv radio stations to bring the founders the african americans of rock and roll to radio and tv to be enjoyed by all race of people...i love most of the rock and roll artists but if you want perfection. it takes african americans to perform it...as a true lover of r and roll i feel the debt we oweto the african americans music and dance performers is debt we could never repay all i can say is thank you.....allan freed certanly earned his place in the hall of fame..he died in his 40 s which gives meaning to that old saying only the good die young....rest in peace allan......whats your thoughts folks .........seamanab

It's amazing how many people "forgot" where rock comes from.
No African Americans, no rock. It's just that simple. We can do whatever we want with the form - twist it, add to it, take away from it, etc. but it is what it is.

Anyway, yeah, we brought a lot to the musical table, but in reality, several groups contributed something. This is why I think "American music" in general is So rich in diversity.
