Elvis' version is gospel where he sings of a mansion that is waiting in heaven whereas Hank Sr sings about a lost love and the fact that he can see her loveless mansion on the hill. Both are great songs with one being a tearjerker and the other with hope of a great afterlife in a mansion that has streets of gold.
