Things to think about when you're developing your high voice:

1. Breath. When you inhale, your shoulders and chest should stay still and you should feel the area just below your navel expand. Some classical singers who have practiced this kind of breathing for years will actually feel their floating ribs move. Inhale, place your lips together in a loose "m" and blow air through your lips (this is called a lip trill), starting at a low place in your range and making a kind of siren sound into your top. Take it easy at first, then try to expand the high end of your range. The idea is to continue to move the air, not to hold it (a common technical mistake for a singer). Lip trilling lets you practice this without putting pressure on your vocal chords. After you've gotten good at it, try the same exercise on an 'ah' and see if you haven't added a couple of notes to your top.

2. Placement. Classical vocalists who access their top range a lot will frequently talk about "dome" or "back" space paired with forward resonance. The easiest way to feel this is to breathe with your mouth open and notice the cool feeling at the top and back of your throat -- this is your soft palate. High notes are easier to sing if your soft palate is lifted, i.e. if you breathe into the "cool spot".

Well hon, if you're an alto, you might not ever be able to hit those really high notes. But don't lose hope! It's possible you're not singing correctly.

Are you taking voice lessons? Teachers are trained in how to show you how to increase your vocal range.

All I can say is, don't use your 'chest voice', use your 'head voice'. So, when singing high notes, you should almost feel you face tingle, sort of, instead of feeling it in your chest. An exercize that helped was was the "third eye". Place an index finger between and a little above your eyebrows, and when singing, try to 'aim' for that spot where your finger is.
I hope you understood that, I'm not much at explaining things.

do re mi fa so la ti do, do ti la so fa mi re do, do mi mi, mi so so, re fa fa, la ti ti, (faster) do mi mi, mi so so, re fa fa, la ti ti

Like before the high note take a quick deep-ish breath
hope this helps?
