Answers: If it sells records, the answer is "no".

No.

will rock ever overcome self-hatred with goths and emos??? will rock ever overcome screaming in their music??

i hope & pray that it does.

I doubt it.

self-hatred? since when?

why dont you ask the same thing about video games, movies, and TV

Rap music as a genre has no predilection for profanity, misogyny or self-hatred; there is nothing inherent to the style which requires any of these ugly things. The most popular rap music has these tendencies, but you might just as easily ask "will pop female vocalists ever stop singing callow, bubblegum and rainbow lyrics?" The problem is not the genre, not even entirely the performers, but the industry who continues to sell pre-formatted, artless product at the expense of real music (by real music, I mean an artistic expression, rather than pointless drivel made solely for financial gain) and the fault of consumers who continue to purchase such mindless, useless crap. That covers misogyny and self-hatred, how about the profanity? What is wrong with profanity? Please, someone, provide me with a well thought out argument against the use of profanity that does not involve the use of outdated, unimportant christian values, and I will give you a cookie. I honestly can't figure out what people have against words. (I admit and agree that the connotations surrounding racial slurs makes the use of these words unacceptable; I speak specifically of vulgar colloquialisms without any racial context.)
