Older COUNTRYMUSIC question-ever heard of Doug Supernaw, what happened to him?!
Question: oh wow, i'm reading all these answers and all is making sense now..i saw him at an outdoor concert about 9 years ago , i got to go on the bus and hang out with him, we had a little drink and talked about his songs, now it makes sense why he was acting strange and taking bathroom breaks every 5 minutes!

Yes I remember Doug. He had a lot of legal problems and some medical problems. He had a song titled "I Don't Call Him Daddy" that was pretty good and it did well for him. I haven't heard anything from or about him in a long while.

Doug Supernaw was committed to a mental institution on Monday (July 2) according to the Houston TV station KPRC. As previously reported, Supernaw was ordered by a judge to undergo a psychiatric evaluation after making several unusual claims in court on April 3 in Bryan, Texas. He had been in court to answer to a misdemeanor charge for avoiding arrest after a confrontation with a police officer. In recent years, he has been charged twice for marijuana possession. His hits include "Reno" and "I Don't Call Him Daddy."
Weird, huh? I hadn't thought of him in years until you mentioned him.
Not sure where he has been, its odd you asked that but I just answered a question where Doug Supernaw's song 21 to 17 was the answer I provided.
He didn't really do much after the release of his CD "The Red and Rio Grande" that produced songs such as "RENO", "I Don't Call HIm Daddy" and the title cut, "The Red and Rio Grande"
I really enjoyed his music and wish him the best of luck as he recovers from whatever personal demons haunt him.
