Do you think hip hop videos are dumb?!
Question: I just remember when I was a kid and rap, and r&b videos were way better...like tlc, wu tang, tupac, missy elliott.
I watched Plies and t-pain's 'shawty' video the other day, and it was confusing and stupid to me...like a lot of recent rap videos. There doesn't seem to be a lot of thought or concept put into them. I mean..I know all you guys are gonna say the girls are fine...okay okay, yeah they are, but still...that alone, I don't think anyway can hold a video up.
Am I alone in feeling this way??? What are your views? Do you agree or disagree and why?

You hit the nail. dead on.. hip hop is weak now.. just like the Artist they feed our youth.. the videos dont need much thought or concept cause they are all doing the same thing and how many ways can you make a video about Sex, Money, and cars. What a waist. Im so glad my parents placed me in formal music training. Im a professional Jazz pianist and I really appreciate good music. not junk.. besides that I dont like to hear about how much money you have the cars you drive when your clearly the minority of the world. Poor people dont want to hear about what you have when there starving and how can you stand up and bragg when people are in need.. Stay humble and be thankful for it is a blessing at times. but I think some of that music is blessed by the devil and they dont realize it.
Most are.. remember some years back when all the hip hop videos were chase scenes? those were dumb too...almost as dumb as the rock ones where the band is in a small tiny room or a box.

only certain ones...i don't consider t-pain and like ying-yang twins real hip-hop....they are tacky and stupid there's no intelligence, originality or substance in their music or videos check out common, mos def, talib kweli...you know, real mc's who actually have something intelligent to say.....

Yeah, they are all the same, nothing but whores dancing around. Rap sucks all they talk about is drugs, clubs, and whores. Why would you listen to something that is so disrespectful to women? Women are only known as sluts and bitches in rap music. I hate it.
Hell yeah they are dumb. It's all the same stuff-girls dancing in slow motion and clips changing every 2-3 seconds. It messes with your mind and they lack substance and creativity. Every now and again, there may be a okay one but like I said, that's every now and again.

In a word 'YES'. There isn't much creativity into the hiphop videos nowadays. You should be able to mute the tv and tell what the video is about by what the characters are doing, just like in a movie. The music video is supposed to tell a story. But unfortunately a lot of them are getting as vague and overdone as these commercials. You have to wait to see the company logo at the end just to figure out what they were trying to sell! "Video killed the radio star!"
Not all of them are like that but yeah i agree with you that hip hop video's aren't the same as they were when i was younger

I agree with you. Hip hop is not classified as dancing in the first place. One person starts something new and the rest of the people follow like sheep. The way of mankind Miss. No creativity has found its way into their music or what they stand for. Which is absolutey nothing...................
Unfortunately- Yes. I mean -they're all "flash", but there's NO substance to them... They're all about the "messenger"- but there's no sign of a Message! ...And ANYONE can dance to Noise- if it has a beat... :(

I can remember when the music videos during the "80's" did'nt have all of the Rump-shakin,Bling-Bling,Profanity,and Blaxploitation. People were completely dressed,and all the bump and grinding was not allowed. Now it appears to me,that if a video does'nt have a half-naked woman,stretched out on the hood of someone's "pimp mobile",then it won't make money!. The music industry is putting this crap in everyone's head,and thinking that you have to be rich,in order to be somebody.
yeah they are getting pretty dumb. and the weird thing is that these girls are getting famous for dancing and shakin their booties in these stupid videos. that's retarded. but only the guys who arent used to havin a girl in their lives like staring mindlessly at the videos
yes hip hop sucks but so does the skanks that appear in the videos the rappers suck britney spears rules so does madonna i label them as techo/dance rap is dead long live techo/rock or techo/danco/rock i play keyboards in rap or hip hop you dont see any artist use a keyboard except for alisha keys but she is r&b not a stupid rapper like eminem or k-trash
It's truly starting to get real old & boring... especially the videos that are always the same and lack imagination. The same thing that made rap so popular is also going to be it's ultimate downfall. It's a shame that not too many rap artists are breaking out of the box when it comes to how they decide to present themselves & their music. The whole gangsta thing is so tired, done, and over in my opinion, that rap as a style of music, has to change in order to survive. Rappers should take note of artist such as Madonna, who have continued to evolve successfully by way of bringing change to both image & music styles. D'n'D

I used to like them, there too much about booties and cars and chains and that crap. I like when they are simple and focus on the artists rapping. My favorite recent video is Hip Hop by Dead Prez, mainly i love the begin shot.
I dont even see any use in videos anymore since all the music channels play reality show all day, and I think the hip hop videos are boring, I like rap not as much as I use to but the videos are all the same,the same slutty girls dancing and shaking their butts,nothing interesting about that since you see it in every video amost.dont get me wrong I love girls but I just dont care to see them in a bikini dancing all by themselves behind a rapper trying to be sexy.

Nowadays most of the videos are boring and pretty much the same. Those new rap 'starts' are trying to be original but everything they do is so... pointless and is only embarrassing hip hop. The new concept is that hip hop should be all about the bling and the cars the money and of course - the girls...
I cannot remember seeing a good new video for a long time. Yeah from time to time there is something fine going out but it just can't be compared to the old videos...
