LUTHER VANDROSS LYRICS

Dance With My Father

Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around 'til I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was loved
If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
How I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him
He'd make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
'Cause I'd love, love, love
To dance with my father again
Sometimes I'd listen outside her door
And I'd hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I'm praying for much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know you don't do it usually
But dear Lord she's dying
To dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream

(this is a good song)

welcome to the black parade, My Chemical Romance

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
"Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"
He said
"Will you defeat them, your demons, and all the non believers, the plans that they have made?"
Because one day I leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join the black parade."

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
"Son when you grow up, will you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me.
And other times I feel like I should go. Through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets.
When you're gone we want you all to know We'll Carry on,
We'll Carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
Carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I cant contain it
The anthem wont explain it.

And we will send you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Lets shout it loud and clear
Do you fight it to the end
We hear the call
To carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated You're weary widow marches on

And on we carry through the fears
Ooh oh ohhhh
Disappointed faces of your peers Ooh oh ohhhh
Take a look at me cause
I could not care at all Do or die
You'll never make me
Cause the world, will never take my heart
You can try, you'll never break me
Want it all,
I'm gonna play this part
Wont explain or say i'm sorry
I'm not ashamed,
I'm gonna show my scar
You're the chair, for all the broken Listen here, because it's only..
I'm just a man,
I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who's meant to sing this song
Just a man,
I'm not a hero
I -- don't -- care
Carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated You're weary widow marches on
We'll carry on
We'll carry on
We'll carry on
We'll carry
We'll carry on

Tim Magrw live like you were dying

View From Heaven-Yellowcard.

that is a good song.

When You're Gone
I always needed time on my own
I never thought I'd need you there when I cry
And the days feel like years when I'm alone
And the bed where you lie is made up on your side

When you walk away I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now

[Chorus]
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone
The words I need to hear to always get me through the day and make it ok
I miss you

I've never felt this way before
Everything that I do reminds me of you
And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor
And they smell just like you, I love the things that you do

When you walk away I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now

[Chorus]

We were made for each other
Out here forever
I know we were, yeah
All I ever wanted was for you to know
Everything I'd do, I'd give my heart and soul
I can hardly breathe I need to feel you here with me, yeah

[Chorus]

Live Like You Were Dyin . . . by Tim McGraw. The song is a tribute to his dad that he barely knew. His dad was Tug McGraw who pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies . . .

If you can find the video, its a pretty haunting video. I lost my dad and step-dad a year apart and the song gives me chills.

My advice is to remember the good times and not dwell on you loss . . .

"Everything I Own" by Bread (1970s song)

Live Like You Were Dying--Tim McGraw

Sometimes I Forget, by Loudon Wainwright. He wrote it about his own father and it's heartbreaking.

after my father died, i pulled away completely from life. one night while wallowing in my isolation i heard the song "i'll always love you" by dolly parton. after a huge emotional meltdown, i rejoined life that day.
all due respect to whitney but she never got the same passion into the song that dolly put into it.

My favorite songs that reminded me of my father was " Daddy's Hands " by Holly Dunn . It is a country song but every time I hear it I cry. Also I like the song "Hurt " By Christina Aguilera . The video to this song is great. But these two songs are coming from a daughters view.

Daddys Hands by Holly Dunn. He Walked On Water by Randy Travis. Drive by Alan Jackson. Heroes and Seeing My Father In Me by Paul Overstreet. That's My Job by Conway Twitty. Angels Among Us by Alabama. These are all country songs and some are a few years old. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mom when i was 13 and understand some of the things you must be feeling.

I Turn to You - All 4 One (Or Christina Aguilera did a cover too)
I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Deathcab for Cutie
I'm With You - Avril Lavigne
In the Dark - Tiesto

And of course, as everyone else said, Luther Vandross and Eric Clapton. I'm sorry about your father, God bless.
