Whistle voice: for those who know?!

Question: I'm a singer and I'm trying to take on the challenge of learning how to sing in a whistle voice. Some examples can be heard by singers such as Minnie Ripperton and Mariah Carey. It's not a typical screaming sound, but more of a technical approach. I know it takes lots of practice, but I don't even know how to go about my approach. If any of you know how to do it, please let me know.

One thing you should realize is that not every person will be able to access the same range of pitches as the next singer, and if you try to force this out of your voice, you can do long term damage to yourself (even though you may be able to sing in the whistle register for a time).

It would be safest for you to go to a vocal coach (one who actually knows what they're doing, especially when it comes to helping singers expand their vocal range and accessing top pitches) and start training with them.

This is a good article that I found.
