Which of Beethoven's Sonata is most difficult?!

Question: Is Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique more difficult than his Tempest Sonata? Or Vice-versa?

Tempest ... once u take a look at both n try it ... u pretty much can tell.

I would say the Appassionata, both in technicality and style. This piece has so much more than complex fingerings, and chromatic runs behind it. The passion that Beethoven exhorts in this piece is sometimes overwhelming. It's like he gives us his joy and his anger rolled into one composition. Report It

  • I don't know about those two, but "Moonlight Sonata" is his hardest. There are four flats in the key sig as well as tons of accidentals.

I think it's a subjective thing. And the number of accidentals in a piece does not denote its difficulty (not always). After looking at the sheet music for Sonata Pathetique Tempest Sonata, for example, I'd choose to play Moonlight Sonata over either of them any day (just because the first two look more difficult to me, personally; I found Moonlight to be a challenge but a simple one, at that).

The hardest: Hammerklavier. It's insane. Musically and technically. I played Pathetique. It was quite straightforward. i think Tempest is harder.

Without doubt the Hammerklavier Sonata is the most difficult - in fact, it's one of the most demanding of all piano pieces by any composer.

Are you looking for the Mt. Everest of Beethoven Sonatas? Why not try Op. 109 ..... it is very beautiful, and that makes for a challenge right there. And Op. 110 is not bad in that department, either! Ah, thin air !!! There's nothing quite like it! Ice pick, anyone?
