I don't understand it either. One of the main preachers who does it is this guy named G. Craig Lewis. And the worst part about is, he's not giving the full story to things. For example, he told his church that Jay Z worships the devil and played the whole "6 6 6 murder murder Jesus thing". What he didn't tell them is that the song was chopped together and remixed by Dangermouse on the Grey Album and that Jay Z had no part in the Grey album whatsoever. You see what I mean? He's giving half truths and decieving people. Does that make him any better than the rappers he bashes so much?

Because rock, and heavy metal dont talk about doing drugs, then "superman dat hoe", and degrading women to the extent as rap does.

They are stereotyping hip hop & rap.

they dont know THE REAL HIP HOP.

.....are you talking about the black preachers?

ofcourse they will bash hip hop and rap,

since that is the only genre they hear in their neighborhood.

It's a pop culture reference that hooks people in to listen to what they have to say and applying it to words written 2000 years ago.

They already went through metal in the 80s when it was more popular. Because rap is a huge seller and is explicit in its words, it's an easy target. Al Gore's wife was one of the biggest names in going after heavy metal groups at the time. Google PMRC. To a degree they were responsible for making record companies put parental advisory stickers on the albums, tapes and CDs.

But also because the audience of popular music can be influenced by what they say, and even though most people are smarter than that, there are one or two that are inspired by the words of a singer or a rapper to do bad things. When that happens, the lawyers will bring the rapper or musician to court because it then becomes a circus and a high profile event. Nothing like having your favorite performer showing up at the local courthouse, is there? Ozzy and Judas Priest I think were subpoenaed because kids were killed and they tried to pin it on lyrics. But at the same time, the record companies love the controversy because it = more sales.. whether it's the song or the CD being pulled off the shelves to become a collector's item.

Most performers observe the life they write about more than live it. I think the ones that live it, their work suffers.

because some preachers don't know what the hell they talking about.

Actually 20 years ago they were bashing hard Rock and 40 years ago they were bashing Rock & Roll. What it comes down to is basically that Rap and Hip Hop are currently the "IN" music. Most kids these days are listening to and influenced by Rap and Hip Hop rather then other types of music. And really it's not about the music itself but the message that is carried within the music. I know of and enjoy Christian Rap and Hip Hop groups. Their message is of Christ rather than drugs, hoes, murder and money. If a preacher is not making it clear that it is the message than that is his fault. Right now our Society (TV, Internet) is glorifying Rap and Hip Hop more so than any other genre of music simply because of our advancement in technology. I would venture to say that at least 60% of our youth listen to Rap and Hip Hop. So preachers are trying to reach out to the majority. The message is what is important, not the music. To be honest with you, all genre's of music are consisted of evil lyrics and of the devil just as they can be about Christ. It's not the genre but the message. You could take any beat and sing about God or you can sing a song of Evil. It is of our own choice and free will. And really if you think about, would the holy spirit still be present with you as your rolling down the street bumpin' 50 cent? One thing you must always remember as a God fearing person is that Satan knows the Bible better than the Preacher preaching his sermon. Satan knows how to use certain passages in the bible against us so that we may surrender to his will. This is why it is so important that we have the Holy Spirit within us so that we are able to know the bible and understand each passage as well as we can. Because through evil a passage could be perceived one way and perceived another way through the Holy Spirit. I hope this helps. Good Luck & God Bless!
