Vibrato, in simplest terms, is when the voice "shakes" Picture your voice coming out of your mouth like a coloured light (weird I know, but so are most explainations of singing technique) and the light moving up and down like a wave. that's vibrato. It's a good thing to have, especially if it's natural, but using too much of it can kill a song completely. Too much vibrato usually happens when you try to push it out and it sounds fake. (If you're trying to imitate the way someone else sings, this is probably why you have too much)
My advice to you is to get a voice teacher who can teach you proper technique because they'll be able to help you fix the problem

Vibrato is the rattle/echo of your voice, so when your singing try quickly moving your diaphragram in and out like little pulses. Its hard to control because you can over ue it and you can destroy a song. The best thing i say to do is to ask your teacher/ instructor. That person can help you the best!

Its kind of like when you sustain a note and rather than it being a smooth and solid note, it sounds as if it's vibrating. If you're an Iron Maiden fan and or you've ever heard Bruce Dickinson sing, he uses vibrato A LOT. As for how do control it, I'm not sure but hey if Bruce could make a career out of it maybe you can too. Good luck with the singing.

Vibrato is the vibration in the sound that you hear when you're holding a note. I control mine at will, but I haven't the slightest clue how I do it. All I know is that in my throat, I can feel pulses when I use vibrato, and when I don't, there is no pulsing.

Vibrato is a slight fluctuation in pitch around the note. watch a violinist playing a slow piece of music and see the way their left hand moves back then forwards ; this is making the note flat then natural, flat then natural.
With musical instruments it is always flat and natural but with voice it is a bit different (check with your teacher) The human ear likes to hear vibrato.
Have a listen to some opera singers on youtube singing a slow aria ; the voice seems to "shimmer"..

the other answers tell you what vibrato is. chances are, if someone told you that you need to control it, you are most likely really overdoing it.

go for a more pure sound, and save the vibrato for longer notes or big finishes.
