Under $100. Wow that is hard. If you want it new try to find a low priced Fender or Yamaha. Most people start out with a Yamaha. That is a good choice.

Wow. 100. Anyways, if you really wanted to stay below 100$, i would suggest one of those crappy strats or probably even an acoustic. If you want one that is just a super good deal for the money, then check out ibanez "s" series.

yeah i agree with james. i would make sure you ll actually be playing your guitar for a while. and that you enjoy learning and investing time to get better.
because if you do want to get a guitar, one under 100 bucks is hard.. so you buy one for 200 once you know you ll be playing it a lot anyways!

that s what i did.
take care n have fun

To check a guitar, you should first check to see that the notes are consistent between the open and 12th fret. at the 12th fret the note should repeat the open note at an octave higher. if you hear even a slight difference between these notes, the guitar is off. after you find one with consistent notage, you should press hard on one of the strings near the head of the guitar and slide your finger up the neck. If it hurts to do that, you should look for a different guitar. other than that, the type of guitar you want will depend on the type of music you want to play. If all else fails, take someone along who plays well and ask them to check them out. If I were you, I would plan on spending more than a hundred dollars. In general, guitars that cheep tend to be poorly made. They either make a poor quality sound or they may actually cause discomfort in the fingers. If it hurts to play or it is hard to make a good sounding note, you are unlikely to stick with it. Beginners have a hard enough time making a clear note to begin with. If you aren't willing to spend at least $300 on a beginners rig, you should probably just skip it.

100 bucks guitars ... ? .. Its very hard to say. I would agreed with James about borrow from your mates first. See how you like to play or not.

The first guitar is very important. If you started with a good quality guitar. It will make you easy to play. Touching is easy to play, too. If you first with a cheapo guitar, you may not play it again. I have many firends who started with Chiniese unbranded guitar. Of course its very cheap. Just $ 50-80, but now none of them still playing guitar. I tried their guitars and feel like my finger touch a tighten wires. Not a guitar strings. Tunning them is not easy too. The tuning machine will say it stay in tune, but when you play .. its totally different.

A good guitar, just only the opened string sound .. its already the music.

If you think you loved to play guitar after trial. Post it again or email me. I would give you suggestion.

here are some that guitar center have. there right at your limit but their probably the best for you money.

but they are mini sizes. for the cheapest guitar for your buck, i suggest a dean vendetta. but its $119.99.

i have one its extremely light and pretty durable and well for playing all types of music. the fret wires are short so if your learning barre chords they are easy. and its not like everyone else's starter guitar. i mean everyone who gets a starter guitar gets a squier. with this guitar you get great sound from its humbuckers. oh and it just looks cool

for under a $100? probably not going to happen.....shoot for 200 and you'll get a poor quality instrument but one that is playable...my suggestion would be to check the local pawn shops because you probably won't find anything new for that price range that isn't going to be poor quality and almost unplayable due to intonation problems
