Six degrees of seperation from the Beatles?!

Question: I've noticed (mostly out of boredom) that most bands I listen to that came out in the 90's or later can be traced back to The Beatles.

Using artist that at one time or another produced a single or album together you can link them back directly or indirectly to the Beatles

example

Primus -
Les Claypool -
Oysterhead (group w/ Claypool, Trey Anastasio of phish & Stewart Copeland of The police) -
Sting (connection through the police)
Eric Clapton (performed on Stings "It's Probably Me")
The Beatles (Clapton did the lead "guitar for while my guitar gently weeps"

How many other bands can this be done with

Hey I've noticed that too! I thought I was crazy though I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Here are a couple I've noticed...

Alice in Chains--

~Michael Starr (bassist for Alice in Chains) played in a band called Sun Red Sun with Bobby Rondinelli (drummer for Blue Oyster Cult, Quiet Riot, late Black Sabbath, etc.)
~Rondinelli played with Cozy Powell in Black Sabbath
~Powell recorded a compilation with John Entwistle (The Who) and Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest) in 2002
~John Entwistle was the bassist in Ringo Starr's Third All Star Band
~Ringo Starr was the drummer for the Beatles

How about Tool?

~Maynard James Keenan played with Jeordie White in A Perfect Circle
~Jeordie White played with Chris Goss in a band called Goon Moon
~Chris Goss played with Ginger Baker (drummer for Cream) his band called Masters of Reality
~Ginger Baker played with Denny Laine (lead singer and guitarist for The Moody Blues) in his band Ginger Baker's Air Force
~Denny Laine played with Paul McCartney in Wings
~Paul McCartney was guitarist and songwriter for the Beatles

Red Hot Chili Peppers

~Cliff Martinez (very early drummer for RHCP) played with Don Van Vliet in Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band in the 80's
~Van Vliet played with Ry Cooper in Captain Beefheart in the 60's
~Ry Cooper played in a band called Little Village with Jim Keltner
~Jim Keltner played in The Plastic Ono Band with John Lennon
~John Lennon was a member of the Beatles

there's a bunch more but that's all I'm gonna list right now. I should make a game out of this.....

You can do it w/ Kevin Bacon too.

kenny lofton did it in baseball. ha.ha..

just kidding. i was on track but lost it.

tom petty with goerge harrison
stevie knicks with tom petty
oh $#%@ i give up.. thats to hard.

My brain won't work properly right now, but there must be some connections involving :~

Billy Preston ~ played on 'Get Back', and 'Something'.

Donovan ~ Paul sang on 'Happiness Runs', and Donovan sang on 'Yellow Submarine'.
Donovan's 'Mellow Yellow' was arranged by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, and 'Jennifer Juniper' was supposedly written about Jenny Boyd, sister of George's wife Patti Boyd {who later married Eric Clapton}.

To work with what the person above said :~

George Harrison with Tom Petty in The Travelling Wilburys
Tom Petty with Stevie Nicks ~ 3 duets {2 SN, 1 TP}
Stevie Nicks with Sarah McLachlan on 'Love Is'
Sarah McLachlan with Delerium on 'Silence'

and

George Harrison with Bob Dylan in The Travelling Wilburys
Bob Dylan played harmonica on Stevie Nicks' cover of 'Just Like A Woman'
Stevie Nicks with Don Henley on 'Leather and Lace'
Don Henley's song 'I Will Not Go Quietly' had backing vocals by Axl Rose
Axl was in GN'R with Slash
Slash played on a 2005 charity record of 'Across the Universe'

My brain's working a little better now!

Marilyn Manson.

Marilyn Manson was signed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, whose first tour was spent as the opening group for Guns N' Roses. Axl Rose (of GnR) performed "Free Fallin" with Tom Petty on the MTV awards one year. Tom Petty was in the Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, who was in The Beatles.

I hope that counts.

DAVE!! GET OFF THAT CHAIR, BROTHER!! YOU HAVE TO START USING YOUR TIME MORE CONSTRUCTIVELY!!!
