This is a favourite - I love the twist on the original, hahaha: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W91sqAs-_-...

Also, this is a perfect cover: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kO4BF67pvs...

Actually, Blondie covered a lot of songs but people always regard them as their own, e.g. Denis and Hanging on the Telephone

Edited: What question? You didn't ask a question. Here are some words that you need for form a question: "Who," "What," "When," "Where," "Why," or "How." Feel free to use these words anytime you wish. You can also use these if you don't like the ones I have provided so far: "Do," "Did," "Is," and "Will."

"Iron Man" by the Cardigans (original by Black Sabbath)
"Don't Let it Bring You Down" by Annie Lennox (original by Neil Young)
"Bohemian Rhapsody" by Flaming Lips (original by Queen)
"Hard to Handle" by the Black Crowes (original by Otis Redding)
"My Sweet Lord" by Nina Simone (original by George Harrison)
"Freddie's Dead" by Fishbone (original by Curtis Mayfield)

Here are some covers I like at least as much as the originals:

Got To Get You Into My Life - Earth, Wind, & Fire (The Beatles)
Respect - Aretha Franklin (Otis Redding)
Proud Mary - Ike & Tina Turner (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
On Broadway - George Benson (The Drifters)
New York, New York - Frank Sinatra (Liza Minnelli)
With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker (The Beatles)
I Want To Be Your Man - The Rolling Stones (The Beatles)
Without You - Harry Nilsson (Badfinger)
Knock On Wood - Amii Stewart (Eddie Floyd)

Here are some I really don't like:

I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston (Dolly Parton)
Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit (The Who)
American Pie - Madonna (Don McLean)
Without You - Mariah Carey (Badfinger)

Cyndi Lauper's cover of "When You Were Mine" (originally by Prince) =]

jeff buckley doing cohens Hallelujah is amazing and so is johnny cash doing hurt. i much prefer the covers.
me first and the gimme gimmes are a fantastic cover band.

The Beatles did a lot of covers. Beatles For Sale (1964), the band's 4th album has covers of Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, and Chuck Berry songs, yet they sound like Beatles songs.

A really good cover is Lay Lady Lay. Originally by Bob Dylan, this song has a good cover by Magnet.

Linkin Park with nine inch nail's song wish
and Jack's Mannequin doing the song God by John Lennon.

"Respect" by Aretha Franklin, originally by Otis Redding.

"All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix, originally by Bob Dylan.

Some of the stuff from the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Elvis.

you got it, type o negative

The following prove that imitation Is indeed the sincerest form of flattery-

Tool's cover of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter

Moonspell's cover of Mr. Crowley by Black Sabbath

Tori Amos cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana

Johnny Cash cover of Hurt by Reznor's NIN

Easy Star All-Stars tribute of the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album by Pink Floyd

I know exactly what you mean with this!!
One that stands out is Jolene- originally sung by Dolly Parton. The White Stripes covered the song, but didn't change the lyrics to match the gender. The lyrics is: "Jolene, jolene, jolene, i'm begging of you, please don't take my man." Jack White sings the song, and it sounds kinda funny coming from a man.
But he sings with such heart-wrenching emotion, it doesn't even seem out of the ordinary. Sometimes, I even forget it wasn't his original song, because the passion that he plays with is astounding, and the lyrics seem like something he would write.
Interesting question!

Killswitch Engage's version of Holy Diver by Dio. lol i didnt really like it at first but after watching the music video it cracked me up

Van Halen's cover of Linda Ronstadt's ''You're No Good'' was pretty cool. There is a tune by Great White called ''Bitches and Other Women'' which is a mixture of the Rolling Stones' ''Bi*ch'' and Foreigner's ''Women'' that I kinda like. I also like ''Time Has Come Today'' by the Ramones and ''Suspicious Minds'' by Dwight Yoakam

Johnny Cash definitely made NIN's Hurt his own.
Guns N' Roses also made a very nice version of Sympathy For the Devil, I really didn't notice it was Sympathy till the sing started, Axl really makes it sound more... evil? (especially with that laugh man, Mick could never do that)

Sublime covering "No Woman no Cry" by Bob Marley

Since You've Been Gone - A Day To Remember

Hurt by Johnny Cash (NIN)
Summer Breeze by Type O Negative (Seals and Crofts)
Cinnamon Girl by Type O Negative (Neil Young)
Creatures of the Night by Iced Earth ( KISS)
Misty Mountain Hop by 4 Non Blondes (Led Zep)
Communication Breakdown by Iron Maiden (Led Zep)
Cross-Eyed Mary by Iron Maiden (Jethro Tull)
I'm The One by 4 Non Blondes (Van Halen)
Sympathy for the Devil by Guns N' Roses (Rolling Stones)
Parasite by Anthrax (KISS)
Hard Luck Woman by Garth Brooks (KISS)
King of the Night Time World by Fozzy (KISS)
Fire by Alice Cooper (Jimi Hendrix)
Helter Skelter by U2 (The Beatles)
Ring of Fire by Social Distortion (Johnny Cash)
Whisky in the Jar by Metallica (Thin Lizzy)
Last Caress by Metallica (The Misfits)
Blitzkrieg Bop by Rob Zombie (The Ramones)
Holidays in the Sun by Skid Row (The Sex Pistols)
Anarchy in the U.K. by Megadeth (The Sex Pistols)
I Can't Explain by Scorpions (The WHO)
Mississippi Queen by OZZY (Mountain)
Roadhouse Blues by Blue Oyster Cult (The Doors)
...to name a few!

korn, can cover songs like pink floyd 'another brick in the wall",and cameo's word up,and metallica's one

I think Green Day did an awesome job covering "Working Class Hero" by John Lennon.
Joe Cocker covering "Alittle Help From My Friends" by The Beatles
and of course....
Freddie Mercury's cover of "The Great Pretender" by The Platters is the best ever!

A7X there new album
