Is there a term for this?!

Question: Is there a term for songs that have several tempo changes and mash together 2 or 3 different song segments into a single song? "Band on the Run" by Wings would be an example.

an mini opera or rock opera. the who was the first to write one of these, a song called "A Quick One While He's Away" which was written by Pete Townshend when someone suggested writing a 10 minute song and calling it a mini opera. he said this was impossible, because traditionally rock songs were about 2 minutes and 50 seconds. but then it was suggested he write a story about something and then split this story up into a few 3 minute songs, and then they would record it all together. this became known as the first mini opera, and the who also wrote the first rock opera album in which the entire album told the story of a blind, deaf and dumb boy named tommy.

in 2004, green day also wrote the rock opera american idiot, which consists of two mini operas called jesus of suburbia and homecoming.

so basically a mini opera is the answer to your question, and a rock opera is basically the same thing except instead of one song it's an entire album.

hope it wasn't too long of an answer... and hope i helped!

ive never heard of a term meaning that.

It's called a "medley", but kids today call it meshing
