Does anyone remember "Hit me with your rhythm stick" by Ian Dury? what!
Question: The obvious answer is a drumstick - the song has a great, pulsating beat and really, really good bass line.
However, I think he was referring to sex - the words go "Hit me with your rythym stick - das ist gud, ich liebe dich, hit me, hit me, hit mee!" - I think you can work out what he is referring to.
The song by the Blockheads which was banned was Spasticus Autisticus - wrongly, in my opinion. Dury himself was disabled (he was born with polio) and this is merely a reference to Spartacus, and not offensive in any way. Sad that the BBC got cold feet.

I do remember that it was banned by Radio 1 so it must have had some kind of sexual connotaion!
It should be like a drum stick, but I have a feeling that Mr Blockhead, was referring to a you-know-wotsit... as a rhythm stick !!

I often wondered about this when the song was out.I came to the conclusion it might be a baton,which a conductor of an orchestra uses.
Then again,I may be completely wrong.

I remember the song. It was number one when i was 18. I remember slowing losing consciousness while that song was playing. Oh such happy memories! No idea what a rhythm stick is, I'll guess its a drum stick
