I agree with the Caveman as Lefty did the best version that has ever been recorded in my opinion. Johnny Cash and Faron Young also recorded it but not with the feeling that Lefty brought to this song written by the late Marijohn Wilkin.
I also agree with your description as haunting as that term fits Lefty's version very well. A person can almost feel as if they are at the grave site "when the night winds moan" when they are listening to Lefty's version. A good question by the way Mogravy. Thanks for asking it.
