Does my band absolutly need lyrics.?!
Question: I play drums in a band called Your Special Guest ( http://www.myspace.com/specialguest2007 ).
We can't find a lead and I'm getting discouraged. We want to play public. Can a band play just music with no singing and get away with it?

If your music is good enough, then you do not need a vocalist. BUT, the vocalist tells the story that goes with the music.

I think you guys can kinda get away with it at a club or something. But.....as for live performances at parties and stuff...NO.
You kinda need a singer to talk to the audience and liven things up a bit

yes,but..most people wont pay that much attention,you just have to figure your going to be making music for musicians.which is cool,just not going to a big as other bands with vocals.I'm going to check out your m.s. page check ours.myspace.com/machineguntessi its kinda funny we need a drummer that can play punk beats. i wish you lived by us.lol
Yeah you can play without a singer just as long as your good for example the band machinae supremacy did some songs without a voice and they made it big with the beats like this lol

You probably have to sound awesome so that people wouldn't even notice you're an instrumental band.
