What is the difference between Rock n Roll and just plain Rock?!

Question: I will apologize to all the others answering this question now; I'm sorry. The main difference is what several pin-headed geek critics decided years ago to give themselves credibility to their shrinking public. Rock is rock and so is rock and roll. Anyone with a few years under their belt (over 45) will tell you the same. It all used to be rock and roll, then someone decided that "rock and roll" was wasting too much ink when they wrote about it, hence the term "rock." If it makes you tap your foot or makes you want to get out and dance, it's rock/rock and roll. 'Nuff said.

n Roll...

Rock n Roll is generally slower, more of what would now be considered "Easy Listening", and usually consists of oldies.

Rock is more heavy on guitars, and generally louder and rougher.

Mostly silly semantics, although Rock N Roll implies something closer to the late 50's, when it all began.

rock n roll has a up beat to it. rock sounds the same but heavier
