Why is it this way?!
Question: When someone comes to the country music category here on Y/A do they then add something about Rock & Roll or some other damn dumb comment about how much they hate country music? If they feel this way what in tarnation are they doing here in the first place. I am seeking an answer from some of you that have been around here longer than I have.

I think there are several different reasons. Some people answer every question that shows up on the "Music and Entertainment" category where every new question posts no matter what category it is placed in. They may not necessarily be coming to the "country" section. I am not sure if it is a point thing or not and I personally think the point system should go away as well as the badges because they are misleading, however well intended the system was when it started out. Mine is a perfect example. I recieved it a long time ago when there were not so many people in this category that frequented it. If you have been here long enough you will notice that I am in no way knowledgeable or an expert in the field of country music; I just happen to have participated a lot for my own entertainment.
Another reason is just the plain and simple fact that some people like to spew hate and criticism for whatever satisfaction they seem to get out of it. The anonomity of the web allows them to do just that.
It would be nice if yahoo allowed you the asker, the discretion of removing an answer from your posted question but odds are, that in itself would not sway one from continually lambasting others unless they risked losing their ID for having so many removed. Seems easier to me than the "report abuse" system.
Truth is they call it a community and like any "community" you are going to encounter every type of individual. You just learn to live within the community if you choose to stay.

I think it is basically the abuse of Yahoo Answers where people just go to questions to get 2 points. Now I still don't understand that because these "points" are meaningless. Why do people want them so much?
I think county music has been kind of stigmatized over the years. The term country music now automatically comes with extra baggage and images like pick up trucks, beer drinking, and trailer parks. So people are quick to judge or make fun of country music not on the merits of the genre, but on their perceived notions of the music based on years of people, media, etc just repeating the same joke or prejudices of country music. It's unfair of course. I think country music has got some of the most wholesome music and people working in it today. It's the only music where you will hear the musicains praise God, family and country. That is a very good thing. It is *** music and **** music that foster disgusting images.
No matter what we do, their will always be haters in this world. weather it be religion, politics or country music. The way i see it these people are miserable in their own lives so they try and make everyone else just as miserable. Best thing to do if you see a question like that, Just ignore it. Eventually they will get the hint and leave.
People who can't think clearly enough to come up with questions on their own or clever, fun-to-read answers have to go around spamming others. It must be a sad way to go through life.
They don't just do it in country category, it happens every day in senior category, current events(gets down right stupid) and polls and surveys. I have not been here that long either.
I think people are too Nosy and have no life...so they have to criticize those of us that do!
ticlkebu.. is right .It's done in the other categories too.. If you ask about immigration, you get called a racist..If you ask about your kid, you get called lazy and neglectful..

I do have to say that alot of the old rockers you know rockabilly came from the country guys Conway was considered rock once upon a time. Kenny Rogers was considered rock once upon a time. Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, The list goes on and on I'm sure. That would be the only way I can justify rock and country being discussed in the same category. As far as some bonehead talkin' bad about Country they just have no idea about what good music is. I love it all. You look at my profile and it says I'm a blues musician but if you talk to me you'll find out I love country and rock just as much. They are all just branches off of the same musical tree. Anybody who can't appreciate that is not REALLY into music. They just like what they like and no amount of trying is going to change them.
I don't know why,but it is so Fool4,If they don't care for country music,I see no reason for a dumb comment.
