Answers: Would you consider the late Tennessee Ernie Ford as country, pop, or something in between?

Something in between- just read the other answers for proof.

He had his gospel side, his country side, his pop side.
My favorite are the boogie/rock-a-billy tunes-Shotgun Boogie, Catfish Boogie, I'm Hog Tied Over You, Tennessee Border, etc.

Ernest Jennings Ford (February 13, 1919 – October 17, 1991), better known by the stage name Tennessee Ernie Ford, was a pioneering U.S. recording artist and television host who enjoyed success in the country & western, pop, and gospel musical genres.

How about a rockin' crooner? He's kinda both of those rolled into one on Sixteen Tons, but then his gospel stuff just makes him a crooner.

Every time I think of Tennessee Ernie Ford, I think of his appearance on Hee Haw, the one where he's sitting with Minnie Pearl, eating something out of a bowl with a spoon. Minnie announces that she's been told she makes two dishes very well. One's mash potaters and the other's tapioca puddin'. Ernie asks, well... which one is this?

TWANG! Country of course

Country all the way, sang some duets with poppers however.

"Bless Your Pea Picking Heart"
Mule Train
Ballad of Davey Crockett(hes on our family tree, no kiddin, Davey ).

GOOD BUT SITTIN ON THE FENCE BETWEEN COUNTRY AND GOSPEL!

Something in between,very good.
