With all the bootlegging that is bein done, do you think down the line artist wi!

Question: Jay Z took a three year break from the hip hop game and released Kingdom Come, which was highly anticipated. His album went 1x platinum, where he has seen an album go8x platinum. 50 Cent had the most hype he has ever had when he released Curtis. The Massacre went platinum in a week. Curtis sold a lil more than 600,000 copies. The game is weakening.

Please dont say it is bcause the albums suck bcause we did not kno it sucked b4 it was released.

The 'Platinum Days' are long gone. There's too many people bootlegging or even getting albums completely free off the internet. The sad thing is, alot of rappers have noticed this and in my opinion, have given up. Music has been put on the backburners, they know they can't get any real money there so they've gone into clothing, perfumes, vitamin water, etc. Then when they finally make an album, its some halfa*sed bullsh*t that you can't sit thru, and you don't wanna buy it. You wanna get the bootleg copy, which starts the whole process over again. It's a vicious cycle.

cause of corperate america

yeah thats true to some extent. but then albums may become platinum only after some time when the consumers declare that the cd is worth listening to and may want to get the cd for novelty's sake rather than have it on mp3. but for those cds which aint as hyped, ppl would rather get the bootlegged version.. only those popular artistes may have loyal fans to go n get the cds..

It is not about the bootlegging that is the major concern here when it comes to an album going platinum but rather the increase of garbage music from most of these puppet singer/s that are tossed out there for us to consume while we gag instead of a 5-course meal from true artists. I suppose the ones that have heard the music throughout the decades can pick up on this faster than the younger listeners. All you younger listeners are just getting a frozen TV-Dinner that will do for the day rather than a homemade meal that will be remembered for a lifetime, in a figure of speech.

It's not that the world is just short of very talented bands or singer/writers out there, it is just about the record labels trying to go with a "thrown together" stereotype (for a particular type of music such as , rock, rap, pop, or country..etc) sound on what they have seen sell at one time or try to mimic what they think people are wanting to listening to at the time instead of looking for these people with true talent with an original sound. All what the music industy leaders want is these so called puppet stars to be display for a short while instead of dealing with the true talents. They have been trying this for years but now it is coming to a head where the market is just way too flooded with synthetic industry made music with no true art skills. Just like the Television industry...Why pay high dollar for true actors when we can get Mr. Cheap Carl CahCah and Ms Ditzy Daisy Dookie off the street and make him/her a reality star and force it down peoples throat before we have time to chew on it and actually taste the real flavor of it which is....plain yuk!!!. There is nothing new with bootlegging music...a new format perhaps but it does not cause an obstacle for artists going platinum. However though, junk music will always be an obstacle in anybody's eyes.

If they drop the prices of cd's to like $5, the same price as bootleg cd's, they would sell.
