Whats the most overrated and most underated Metal bands?!
Question: I think Slipknot is waay to overrated. I used to listen to them back in Highschool, but I grew out of that stage. there is waaay better metal bands out there. and 90% them are form Finland and Sweden.. I wish people would know this. but the US doesnt make the best heavy metal. to me the most underrated metal band is Kalmah. there really good and very few people know of them.

In my opinion these bands are overrated: Bullet for my Valentine, Atreyu, hatebreed, and bands that are not really true metal like static x and korn.
underrated: Nahemah, The End, Twelve Tribes, Between the Buried and Me, The Human Abstract, and Gojira just to name a few
I haven't really caught up on music in the past few months since I got my iPod hooked up to my car, but I would agree with you on Slipnot as being overrated, and Disturbed to be underrated.
I have to say that I'm into the Melodic Death Metal, and that's mostly from Sweden and Norway areas.
Some of the most over-rated metal bands are usually Nu Metal.
I am really into In Flames and Soilwork. They are probably the most accessable Death Metal bands out there, and their lyrics are on the level of Audioslave in complexity.

Let's see: The U.S. has/had Pentagram, Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, Kyuss, The Melvins, Monster Magnet, Sleep, High on Fire, Acid King, The Atomic Bitchwax, The Hidden Hand, Unida, Corrosion of Conformity, Bongzilla, and quite a few others. Maybe they're not your personal favorites, but I'd say we're fine.
