Question: His brother Allen sounds a whole lot like Lefty but I reckon being from the same family he would. But of these two singers who sounds more like Lefty

haggard...hands down..no doubt about it.
Coming from an untrained ear, I am going to say John Anderson because I think Merle's voice is a little deeper.
I LOVE JOHN ANDERSON BUT MERLE'S GOT THIS ONE! HEY, DID'NT MERLE GET ACCUSED OF SOUNDING LIKE LEFTY TOO MUCH BACK WHEN HE 1ST STARTED OUT AND WAS TOLD TO "BE HIMSELF"?
I don't think either of them sounds much like Lefty. He had a distinctive voice. Even David Frizzell didn't sound like him (haven't heard Allen). I did listen to Merle's version of "If You've Got The Money" just now-its great, but I still hear Merle, not Lefty.
