Answers: GLEN CAMPBELL
ROY CLARK
MERLE HAGGARD
CHET ATKINS
JERRY REED
STEVE EARL
LEROY PARNELL

Glen Campbell

ROY CLARK!!!!

I do love me some Steve Earle!

Does Bonnie Raitt count, though? She kicks some major booty.

I'm going Jerry Reed, I remember when Jerry wrote Guitar Man and Elvis was recording it, he could'nt find anyone who could put the riffs in it like Jerry did, so he got Jerry to do the riffs on the record !!!!

Can't go wrong when you pick Roy Clark.

Have you ever heard Brad Paisley play? Badass. He gets my vote.

Merle Haggard

Roy Clark! I know there are going to be a lot of people that are musically or instrumentally inclined and probably have more technical background. (who am I kidding by saying 'more", that would be everyone since I have none!...lol) Anywho...I am going to be extremely OPINIONATED with this one! I honestly believe that Roy Clark has to be the best instrumentalist out. That man can pick up any instrument and play it well! Okay, I'm done. I promise never to spout off again...lol

Steve Earl is great! I love hearing his song's in a bar.

Roy Clark! Is there any string instrument he can't play? He's amazing!

Ah. Chet Atkins. I once thought RCA stood for Reeves, Cramer and Atkins.

Chet had so many albums with so many diverse artists. He even had an album with Ravi Shankur on the sitar, and his daughter is now Norah Jones!

The man not only played the guitar so beautifully, but he also knew music well enough to have discovered many, many of the people who shaped country music in to the CLASSIC COUNTRY none of us can't get enough of. He also produced much of what became the soundtrack of our lives.

So, thought I don't mean in any way, shape or form to discount the other powerhouses on this list, my choice is Chet Atkins to put at number one. (And I think many others on this very list would stand in agreement.)

Roy Clark of course. All the others are good, but Roy is the KING! Chet would be a close second.

Think I'll plump for Chet

Roy Clark

My answer is neither of those you listed but the incomparable Grady Martin. Look him up and you will see why.

On Edit: the reason for my giving this answer Helen is due to the many sessions that Grady was on for a great number of years. One only has to listen to the driving lead guitar sound on the recordings by Johnny Horton such a "I'm Coming Home and " I'm A Honky Tonk Man" and many others. Grady played for hunderds of artists and thousands of songs so that entitles him to number one in my opinion. Grady started playing professionally in 1946 or 1947 and was one of the most versatile guitarists ever. Grady also did the guitar work on El Paso which was recorded by none other than the late, great Marty Robbins. If you ask me for the greatest living guitar picker then I gotta give you my nod for Roy Clark. But then again what would I know.

i cant.I JUST CANT Okie....you ask me to make a TUFF choice...i want to say Roy Clark....but then, Glen Campbell is good..........ah shoot!....i just CANT vote on this one. sorry Okie.

Chet Atkins!

Hi OKIE !!

I gotta vote for Chet.... Saw him many times.

I just wish I could vote for his mentor.... Merle Travis !!!!

Leroy Parnell is the king in my book.

Roy's the man!!!!!!
