Phil Spector and his demons (TV last night). Any comments about him?!
Question: Spector may well be a very warped person but he made some of the greatest pop records ever in the 60's. I will miss him if he goes down or dies. What do you think?

Phil is (was ?) a genius, from "To Know Him Is To Love Him" through all the Philles records and beyond. However, this has been a long time coming. He beat & abused Ronnie Spector when they were married, & threatened & intimidated many others. The Ramones told of him pulling a gun on them when they decided to leave the studio after re-playing the same 4 bars of music for hours. I just got the new Eric Clapton autobiography, and he mentions Phil having a reputation for carrying a gun in the mid-sixties. Personally, I think he's guilty. Genius, talent, fame, etc. does not excuse the kind of behavior he's been known for for years, let alone murder.
