sing kareoke! I love doing it and I know I suck... but at least you can tell by the applause... or tape yourself.
If you think you suck, you will. You will have too much fear to let go and let rip. Not that if you think you are great, you will be; too much arrogance in your voice will turn people off. Sing for fun, have fun, and others listening will too.
record yourself with some really good recording devices, buy a good microphone and earphones, etc, and then play it back and see how you sound.
