Are the drums a good instrument for a teenage girl to learn?!

Question: If that's the instrument that you want to play don't let any of those fools who saw no way rule your decision.

ROCK ON!!!!!

IMO, no. Teengaer and drums? Sounds like punk rock. Plus you can't use your skills anywhere unless you're forming a band - which isn't easy. Learn a solo instrument like violin or guitar.

Yea!
That's so cool to see a girl drummer!

first, it doesnt matter if ur a girl or not! second, yeah!!! drums r an awesome instrument, and everyone wants to play the giutar, so drums will stand out! go for it!

Any instruments will do good it depends on what type you want. It's rare a girl drumer but that will makes you different.

The real question should be whether or not you have such a driving beat in your soul that you pound on things or tap your feet to such a degree that drums are a natural step. NO instrument should be just a matter of curiosity - there should always be a passion that drives you toward it. If not, you're just wasting yours or your parents' money.

Yeah! My advice is to head to your local music store and spend some time banging on drums. Hand drums are easy to start with (djembe is my personal favorite). If you feel that rumble deep in your soul, go for it!

Learning the drums is all about timing, which is something you need to play any instrument. So if you learn drums, it will help you down the line if/when you decide to learn something else, too! Plus, in my town, good drummers are in short supply and ALWAYS in demand. And it's true there aren't many of us girl drummers - we stand out in the crowd!

I've played percussion for nearly 2 decades (dang, I feel old now); played professionally for nearly 10 years. Drumset is only one part of that. If you can read music (if you can't, I strongly suggest that you learn how), there is a whole world of percussion available to you. All styles for drumset - jazz, swing, rock, country, dixieland, metal, whatever. Plus you can hop into pit orchestras and pick up some spending cash playing timpani, mallet instruments (marimba, vibes, xylophone, chimes, bells, crotales), and battery*. Being a percussionist, there is a whole world of variety that you can enjoy. Don't lock yourself behind the drumset.

Seriously, one evening you could be playing Beethoven and Mozart in an orchestra, the next evening you could be playing a dance gig.

Yeah, you'd probably enjoy playing percussion and drums. Give it a try.

*Battery: concert percussion - snare drum, tenor/field drum, concert toms, cymbals, bass drum, triangle, tambourine, woodblock.
