What instrument do you think a teenager should learn to play?!

Question: The one that they are positively, absolutely motivated to play. This is one where you let your heart and soul decide, not people you don't know.

Guitar, Drums or Keyboard, or bass. thats all. I do not recommend trombone or the triangle. NOT THE TRIANGLE!

Start with something like piano. This is fairly easy and has a good focus on learning to read music so form there you can easily move on to anything else.

piano/keyboard ,guitar, violin, they are all excellent choices. The laptop harp is in my opinion the easiest ;)

Electronic Musical Key board. It has thrown out all the other instrument out of stage.

Claranet or Flute. Beautiful intsroments!

I learnt to play the flute, the piano and the saxophone.. I hated the flute and the piano, cos when you are young you want to play tunes that you recognise.. Not classical music.. You only appreciate that when you are older! On the Sax there are loads of tunes you can play that are simple and funky!! It's perfect for a teenager..

Either that or the guitar... (for the same reasons)..

learn the guitar ......... its real fun

Its all about what you like, What instrument makes the best sounds that you like.
Try one of these.....

Guitar, Drums, Keyboard/Piano, Violin or the Flute.

The question is is the teenager cool? If so then guitar is your only option. Responsible kids (nerds) are always drummers and followers play base. Many will argue but it doesn't make me wrong.
P.S. there aren't any other instruments, worth playing that is. Oooh I forgot Cowbell, that's pretty freakin awesome too.
P.P.S. Keyboards will steal your soul.

See the thumbs down, those are from drummers, and Bassists

I suggest you speak to your band or orchestra director as your choices may be limited. You may also be limited by your parents based on the amount they are willing or able to spend on an instrument. A piano may be out of the question; however, a guitar may be something within your family's means.

My daughter chose the French horn and regretted it when it came to carrying it to and from school; but loved every other aspect of it, my son wanted to play the flute but had these huge hands and the band director laughed at him. The trombone was suggested; so, Christopher decided to go out for cross country instead!!

Keep an open mind and enjoy which ever instrument you choose, they all have advantages and disadvantages. With practice you will be a hit at any of them!

Keyboard, guitar, or drums.
I myself learn guitar, but I also have lots of experience on the keyboard from our school's music lessons.

piano,
guitar.
