The song is about a young football player who gets his g/f *or wife* pregnant, and he is saying good bye to his dreams of becoming a famouse football player, but then he falls in love with his baby girl and watches her grow up, and then he says good bye to her when she leaves for college...

Seriously, I don't know. Maybe since the song is about a guy that thought his life was over only to find out his life was everything he wanted, maybe he's telling you that he didn't know how much you meant to him until now. Maybe you won't be on again off again anymore.
Or it could be that he's telling you he wants to have sex and that he'll stay with you if you get pregnant (if you're underage...think hard about it...and then decide to wait!).
Maybe he's just a sensitive guy that likes the content of the song and wants to share it with you.
Could be anything...but then again, it could be nothing.
