Is Rock really Rock anymore?!
Question: Alright so I am looking at this category and it says Rock/Pop so why doesn't one of the greatest inventions of all time (Rock & Roll) have it's own category? Please help me answer this.

Dang man. thanks for asking this one. I was wondering this the other day when i fist started doing this whole Yahoo Question answer thing. I have no idea why they would put the two together. Its like they are Putting Ozzy with Justin Timberlake in this section. I like both of those People as artist but they def. need to be seperated. Now my question to you is. How do we get them to separate the Two?

i think defiantly not because Rock and Roll used to be about the experiences of a certain generation but now so called rock is nothing more than pre pubescent boys whining.

You have to draw the line somewhere. Every category on Answers wants sub-sections. It's too much to manage and maintain. Since Rock and Pop is a tradition from record stores, it is easy to draw the line there. It's not a reflection of the value of the music.
Rock is popular music so therefor is classed as pop, on the other hand rock does not share the same audience as pop. I think the main reason for keeping it this way is that there simply are not enough questions posted for there to be any need to a split.
Grouping Rock and pop together is a really sad statement of where music has gone. Rock should have it's own category but it doesn't. :(
Because of The Beatles, The Monkees, The Beach Boys, The Dave Clark Five, The Searchers, The Hollies, The Zombies, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Big Star, and about a thousand other groups I can't bother to name.
Stop complaining. This is not a new development.
rock n roll is dead along with elvis and the rest of the hippies, rock and metal is the future, it is a curse that rock is always lumbered with this sham music called "pop"
why doesnt metal have its own category? for gods sake, this is a section which counts for Madona and Napalm Death, this is something that should never have occured, Madona does not deserve to be in the presance of bands lke these!
