But if you only listen to radio/mainstream rap...why does rap suck so much if u never givin it a chance??

For example idk this just popped into my head randomly [like if people started coming into this section saying rock sucks and their fav. music is the best what would you think about the person/people??]

Okay, first off..I don't listen to mainstream anything. And honestly, rap gives me a headache...even though i may listen to hardcore and some death metal. Everybody has certain things they like and dislike.


EDIT: I really have no desire to listen to rap because I'm content with what I listen to now...and I have no need to change my style of music.

The thing about Rap that I can't accept is that it contains a lot of hatred, racism, abuse of women, endorsements of violence, and also tends to be played at volumes that are an invasion of other people's space in their homes, and on the streets. Take away those things and it doesn't bother me at all.

Im into rock reggae metal and blues, but what i dont like about the mainstream rap that i always hear is how half the time its not serious or just poorly written. For example the Hey Babay and soulja boy songs. I wouldn't mind it if it was more serious and had a good subject like the stuff eminem, and tupac came out with. wich i like but i dont like going through all the other crap.

but alot of people that listen to rock, don't just listen to the mainstream stuff.
Most people that listen to rap listen to only mainstream stuff.

Well I guess I would be alttle annoyed but thats there opinion. When you post a question you are going to hear some things you like and dont like and not everyone agrees. Dont sweat it just ignore them dont give them the satisfaction and reply back. Dont sweat the small stuff keep posting and have fun!

I don't hate rap, in fact I think some rappers come up with very good lyrics, but for me lyrics is only half of it. I need to hear great melodies and guitars and vocal harmonies and all that stuff. But I listen mostly to classic rock anyway. I do respect rappers, as it does take talent to do what they do. As for the offensive lyrics, there are plenty of rock bands who say the same things, so I couldn't care less about that.

I do give it a listen, but I don't much like what they sing about. I prefer love peace and understanding and they seem to be all about violence and misusing women, and money.

I did quite like a track by a man called Chiggy. Life is too short though to give lots of time to stuff you don't much like. There's not enough time to listen to all the other genres. Mostly I like rock, classical, musicals, pop, blues, soul and jazz.

What with that and all the films, books, Internet sites, Friends, cooking, walking, museums and galleries, places to visit etc etc. there just isn't the time what with all the other things there are to do in life to listen to rap, garage, house and stuff I'm not so keen on.

I am actually a Metal/ Punk fan but I will comment as I do not care for Rap.
For me personally it is the actual music or lack of, not the lyrics. I live for the sound of a serious guitar solo or the fast beat of Metal drums.
I guess it's no different that the reality that to a person that loves rap the sound of that high pitched Metal guitar squeal is probably like nails on a chalk board.
It's just a matter of taste and personal preference.
To me rap is boring and doesn't have the qualities that I enjoy musically and honestly the lyrics are nothing that rings true in my life or reality so I just can't enjoy it.

It's more how it's listened to. When I'm driving along and I've got my radio playing, I don't want to hear what is being played in the next car, I definitely don't want to feel the bass coming from your car into mine. Overall it seems that rap fans are just...rude. They insist on blaring their music, now don't get me wrong, everyone is guilty of playing music too loud at one point or another, but rap fans seem to be the worst offenders.
Other than that, I prefer to listen to instruments, and I don't care for the rap/rock, or boy bands attempting to rap stuff either.
