I once heard music by Kabalevsky that was high tempoed, thunderous, and very bra!

Question: What sort of work was it? Did it sound like a symphony (meaning orchestral), orchestral with some sort of solo instrument (concerto), a solo instrumental work, what? Right now I can only think of 1 piece like that - his Piano Concerto No. 3, Op.50 (often nicknamed the "Youth" concerto). I'm playing it now. The orchestration is mostly brasses and the 1st and 3rd movements are definitely very fast and 'thunderous' at some parts. The 2nd movement is beautiful though.

Very difficult without more hints. Much of his music was bombastic, being written in the 'Soviet Realist' style.
Depends on the instrument. What do you play?
