Answers: What exactly does a producer do?
Gud Dudgeon for example with Elton John in the early years.
The producer works with the artist to help make sure the vocals and music sound as perfect as they can be. They make think a song would sound better a certain way, and suggest recording it that way. They also help translate ideas the artist might have onto tape. A produce may suggest adding strings or a choir to a track, (as was the case with Dudgeon) or many other ideas. Also, a producer is kind of a sparring partner. Sometimes an artist may have an idea(s) that are not very good, and it is the producers job to make the artist realize this (although sometimes it is the opposite, the producer is the one with the bad idea).
there r dif kinds of producers:
Executive producer, supervises one or more producers
Record producer, or musical event producer, in the music industry
Theatrical producer, oversees the staging of theatre productions
Film producer, oversees the making of films
Line producer, manages the budget and/or day to day running of a film production
Television producer, oversees the making of television programs
Radio producer, oversees the making of a radio show
Online producer, oversees the making of content for websites
Game producer, produces computer and console games
Impresario, a producer or manager in the theater and music industries
Web producer, oversees the management of web sites
Gives songs and albums directions, ideas etc. Like a theme throughout the album, whether or not the song would sound better recorded like this, whether it needs another shaker in verse 2 etc etc
In the music industry, a record producer (or music producer) has many roles, among them controlling the recording sessions, coaching and guiding the musicians, organizing and scheduling production budget and resources, and supervising the recording, mixing and mastering processes. This has been a major function of producers since the inception of sound recording, but in the later half of the 20th century producers also took on a wider entrepreneurial role. These activities comprise record production.
In the UK, before the rise of the record producer, the A&R Man would oversee the recording session, assuming responsibility for creative decisions relating to the recording.
The music producer could be compared to the film director in that the producer's job is to create, shape and mold a piece of music in accordance with their vision for the album.
