How do you find out about concerts?!

Question: Is there like, an awesome website that exists that has a massive list of bands and dates and what not?

The reason I ask is because like, I'll be watching the news and hear something like "and this morning, U2's world concert sold out in 17 minutes". THAT'S HOW I FIND OUT! How did all the people who bought their tickets find out? 'Cos I do miss out on a lot of good concerts. Am I just not a hardcore enough music fan?

My second question is - do you have to be waiting online for the tickets to go on sale, or do you just like, put your details into the website beforehand and then a draw takes place where some people get tickets - and some don't? Thanks.

Alright,

If you live in the US or Canada, make sure you visit www.ticketmaster.com or .ca (depending where you live)

They have a section, where you show your area, then it will tell you all the big concerts comming up.

http://www.ticketmaster.com/find_area/?t...

If there is a particular band you want to see... for example U2,

you would search the site for "U2", and click on the link at the bottom saying "add to my alerts"

then they will message you wqhenever that particular band comes to your town.

However, i suggest that you just look up the original link on a regular basis, and then go online PRECISELY at the time that it goes on sale.
Try music press street mags thats where i usually get my gig info. Also sign up onto ticket company websites like ticketek.
Myspace bands also send out bulletins of any upcoming tours. uhh thats all i got.
If you buy tour tix online its a race definately not a draw. try pre sale tix to avoid disappointment
Go to your local music store. They usually get this information before most people can can tell you how to get the information you want in time to act on it.
