Is it common for a singer to not like their own voice?!

Question: I am back up vocs for my band and in the recording, i hate my voice but our lead singer likes it.

Answers: I am back up vocs for my band and in the recording, i hate my voice but our lead singer likes it.
Well, do you hate your voice when you hear it pre-recorded, or do you hate hearing it while you sing? I hate the way I sound when I sing, because my ears hear something different than what everyone else hears. Listening to my voice on a recording (which is your voice that everyone hears already) is a much more pleasant experience.

And if neither of these is the case and you just don't like your voice, then I can only tell you that different people have different tastes, and I'm sure the lead singer is right, and that your voice is what he wants for the recording.
Don't be your own worst critic-if anyone else likes it, you're probably alright.
Yea cause they want to make it better or they want someone elses voice so they asume its bad. I hoped it helped!
well maybe singers just want, popularity and money?
i don't think so
why would they keep singing if they don't like their voices
if someone is ubsessed with an action they are good at, they keep doing it
it certainly takes some getting used to.
we actually hear ourselves not through the air, but through the vibrations in our jaw and face. those vibrations are transferred to the ear, and that's how we hear ourselves.
so when you hear yourself on a recording, it does sound different. that's the way everyone else hears you.
what don't you like about your voice? is it a style thing? something about the song itself? anything you can work on?
if the lead singer likes it though, don't worry too much.

barbra streisand hates her own speaking voice, but not her own singing voice.
i have the same "Problem", but i can tell you...listen to the guy
and if you want, you could ask people for their opinion. Constructively. But, hey...your voice is YOUR voice....and its normal "Not to like it" as i said. Try to give your voice a little more acceptance and the rest will follow ...!
Some singers yes, cannot stand to listen to their own songs.
I am a singer myself. It is very common to not like your own voice. When i hear myself, i don't really like it, but other people do. just don't be self conscious about it and concentrate on hit the right notes at the right time. Most people don't like themselves at first, but you'll get used to it, and maybe even like it.
Just keep on recording your singing voice and listening to it over and over, about two times a day. Eventually, you will get used to your voice and start to realize how other people hear you.
Good luck =]
