What is your opinion of country artists whose children get into the business.?!

Question: We have seen it over and over again where a country entertainer has children who also get into the country music business. We often don't hear much of them after they get started. I recall Marty Robbins son Ronnie who could do a great impression of his Dad but the world had already experienced a Marty Robbins and Peggy and Patsy Lynn who are Loretta's daughters but they aren't shaking up the charts. Lorrie Morgan whose dad was George Morgan. The exceptions may be Hank Jr & Hank III. I would just like your thoughts.

FIRST OF ALL I MUST SAY THAT I AGREE WITH ALL OF YOU SO FAR EXCEPT FOR MR.LOONEY TUNES"WATCHING"??? WHAT THE HELL IS HE TALKING ABOUT..MEH??

ANYWAYS I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT ACTORS KIDS WHO RIDE THE COAT TAILS OF THEIR FAMOUS PARENTS...I TRULY BELEIVE THAT GOOD VOCALS AND TALENT IS NOT INHERITED! THAT'S WHY WE HAVE ACTING SCHOOLS AND VOCAL COACHES...

I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SPEND A WEEK-END WITH LORETTA LYNN AND FAMILY ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO, AT THAT TIME HER SON ERNIE WAS IN TROUBLE AGAIN SO SHE GAVE HIM SOME TIME OFF AND ADDED THE TWINS ON THE ROAD TO OPEN HER SHOWS..ME, PEGGY AND PATSY WENT TO TOOTSIES IN NASHVILLE TO HOB KNOB AND JUST HANG OUT..WELL THIS CROWD JUST SWARMED OUR TABLE AND SURE ENOUGH WE WERE GOING BACK TO THE CAR FOR THE GUITARS..FAST FOWARD..THE STORY THAT THEY STARTED TELLIN WAS "WE GOT DISCOVERED AT TOOTSIE'S AND WE NEVER EVEN TOLD NO ONE WHO WE WERE, WE JUST CALLED OUR SELVES..."THE LYNN'S"--WHAT? THEY COULD'NT SING THEN AND THEY CAN'T SING A LICK NOW..JUST GETTIN THROUGH DOORS WITH THAT FAMOUS LAST NAME! I THINK MOST OF THESE OFF SPRING SHOULD THINK TWICE, MAYBE THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY FOLLOW IN THEIR "FAMOUS" PARENTS SHADOW AFTER ALL...WE ARE FANS OF LORETTA~MEL ~WAYLON~MERLE..THEY CAN NEVER FILL THOSE SHOES AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY ONLY GET COMPAIRED TO THEM. I AGREE THAT PAM TILLIS HAD A GOOD RUN OF HITS AND SOUNDED PRETTY GOOD TOO ...I LOVE NOEL HAGGARD LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW BUT HE NO "HAG" BY NO MEANS BUT IF YOU'RE FANS OF THEIR PARENTS IT'S HARD NOT TO ACCEPT THEM A LITTLE..I AGREE WITH DOL...THERE ARE A LOT OF STRUGGLING SINGERS THAT CAN'T CATCH A BREAK NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO AND I EVEN KNOW A FEW WHO SHOULD BE SIGNED LIKE, YESTERDAY BUT IT SEEMS LIKE "AMERICAN IDOL" IS FILLING ALL THOSE SPOTS WITH THESE OVER NIGHT SUCCESS COOKIE CUTTER TYPE!
I feel that it's a little unfair to the rest of us who are trying to break into the music industry. I also feel that it's a little unfair for people like Carrie Underwood to be on a singing show and be getting all this publicity because of only american idol. She didn't get rejected by hundreds of people or didn't work her **** off for a record deal, she just sang on a show where people would know her even if she didn't win, whereas she didn't earn those fans the hard true way.
I realize that being related to a famous singer sure gets doors opened for the artists but they have to have something else to keep them going. Sounding like their parents or other relatives just doesn't do. You mentioned Hank Williams and Hank Williams Jr. but I think the reasons for the younger Williams' success are that he started his career long after Hank Sr. died and his music doesn't really sound like his father's. People are aware that they're related but know they're not the same person.
Very few actually turn into anything big. I can think of one who actually made it and that's Hank Jr. i personally do not care for the Shooter Jennings or Hank III type. They have a long way to go and a hell of a big shoe to fill before i,m impressed. As far as Pam Tillis goes, she had some very good songs out in the late 80's and into the 90's. But she also seems to have faded out of the limelight. I guess if they come into the business the way their fathers did it would be ok, but a lot are riding on their parents name. and that's not fair for some others who may be trying to get into the business.
meh
They usually get famous and then just dissapear from the charts. Hannah Montanna (Billy Ray Cirus's daughter) is pretty popular right now, but I don't think she'll stick around. They usually try to follow in their parents footsteps, but the world has seen that already and wants something new.
I say it's a free world, so let them get in the business. They'll find out it's a rough one out there. Their name may open the door, but it also can make it slam a lot harder. I do like Pam Tillis fairly well. Also like Hank III a lot, not such a big fan of Shooter, but maybe he'll figure it out- I get tired of him always bringing up his pa.

Oh, Shaver's son, Eddie was an awesome guitarist.
If someone has the talent and the drive for any business, I think they should go for it. If they use family name or any other strings to pull I say go for it. Entertainment is cut throat anyways, so if you have you should use<not talking about body>.
