I think it should be banned.
1.) They don't play ANY music any more.
2.) The station brainwashes kids into believing that having a shallow attitude and only caring about material possessions is cool.
3.) They spend more time playing commercials than anything else.
4.) What little music that gets exposure isn't a good representation of music, they only show pop and rap artists.
5.) They've driven away ALL of their old audience by either playing terrible music or no music at all.
6.) MTV plays so many shows and commercials that they had to create MTV2 to keep fans happy by playing music videos 24 hours a day. But all the crappy shows from MTV have overflowed onto MTV2 and now they both suck.
7.) MTV used to be about being rebellious and breaking away from the mainstream, now they represent ONLY the mainstream.
8.) The station's award shows are nothing but a circus every year. Rather than giving away awards or giving a good performance from the artists, they just try to find ways to grab head lines. As for the awards given, it's just a popularity contest.
9.) Rather than giving new or lesser known artists a chance, the station takes artists that you're all too familiar with and shoves them down your throat even more.
10.) No self-respecting artist or fan even cares about MTV.

it barely plays anything except rap and hip-hop.. its so biased
and it plays music like for an hour a day
maybe not banned, but certainly changed.
it should play ,much more of a vatiety of music and rather than mixing them together (e.g. playing 50 cent, then, metallica, then, madonna) it should have a different genre every hour or something like that so you know when you want to watch it.
it need alot less adverts and less crappy shows like punk'd, it should do as the name suggests and show Music TeleVision.

i gave up on mtv, and however many channels they have, a while ago. But i'm sure i'll watch again if they start showing some rock and punk music videos. I've had enough of the rap or hip hop or whatever they're calling it now.
The New MTV should be banned.
All they seem to show is Rap or Soul.
And Reality shows are all over it. I'm not into it at all.

It definitely should be banned. MTV used to stand for Music Television. I rarely see any music at all. Even when they do play the occasional video it is rap or hip hop. MTV should cover all genres of music and the programs should always center around music. I blame MTV for the downfall of music.
MTV (Music Television). Where did the music go? The day the Real World debuted is the day the music died for MTV. Now it is littered with Cribs,Real World/Road Rules,The Hills,and the only music show TRL is filled with hip hop/rap crap. Change the name to STV and the S doesn't stand for Sitcom.

I remember when they had the top 20 countdown! music videos are a big part of music and they only do reality tv. even the count down they have everyday is stupid. you dont even get to watch the videos all the way thru. how can they vote best videos when we cant even watch them???? I HATE MTV!!!!!!!!!!!!
MTV needs to either get taken off the air, or given a massive facelift. If they continue to show reality show and promote the worst hip-hop ever (especially the hip-hop that's getting panned by the media right now with the racist/sexist lyrics), then there's not much left. They need to show more variety of bands...genres...and real hip-hop...seriously, no more of the crunk rap. It was funny the first minute, but now it's old...it's becoming a parody of itself.
MTV needs to dump the reality shows now...this isn't music at all. If not videos, then how about live performances of music artists, interviews, special shows, etc...they need to get it in their head that there current lineup sucks.

I got Fuse now so im a lot happier, mostly rock mostly music
it started out as a video channel thats it.but the fucked up thing about it was it was on cable we were already paying for but we couldnt get mtv unless we payed more and they had commercials.talk about sell outs.they always have been in it for the money.now they go for whats new and mainstream.bunch a **** if you ask me.bring back the real headbangers ball."sinners i command you not to change that dial,we'll be right back with more head.................bangers...............
