How Can I Improve My Singing?!

Question: Please Don't Say Vocal Coach or Lessons because I know about those!

Please say something else other than Vocal Lessons or Coach!

I am serious about singing and want to start a career in singing but I want to know how to sing first.

Ok, in the interest of giving you honest advice... Your tone is very nasally. Now, certain musical styles fit nasal tones. Your music sounds like it has influences from India or Pakistan... that style is nasal in quality. But if you want to succeed in mainstream music, you need to develop a richer tone.

When all the air is coming out your nose, the sound is very thin. You need to practice making a conscious effort to keep air from escaping through your nose. Start by, literally, pinching your nose when you sing. This will help you feel what it's like to force the air out of your mouth. Then you progress to closing off the soft tissue of your nasal cavity without pinching your nose. Some air out the nose is ok, just not all of it.

The next thing you need to work on is intonation. You need to make sure you're standing up really straight, and breathing from your diaphragm. You need to make sure that you're not tensing up your throat when you sing, because you don't want to restrict air flow. This will also help with pitch issues, because tension pulls the note off pitch.

I would suggest joining a school, church, or community choir. Singing as part of a group is free, for one thing, and it helps you learn breathing techniques, blend and harmony, and to develop the listening skills that help you identify when you're on and off pitch.

Last but not least... The best thing you could possibly do for yourself if you're really serious... Voice lessons. I know you don't want to hear it, but it's going to take some serious personalized attention to help you develop the technical skill necessary to maintain a professional singing career.

You have a great look. If I was a record exec, I'd want to sign you on based on that look. But you have a ways to go in your vocal ability.

Do not give up, if it's your dream, keep working, but it won't necessarily be easy.
It will take weeks. Just practice and try alot of different songs and record yourself to seee where ur mistake is
Make sure before you start singing that your throat is not dry, also take deep breaths before starting. Practice with a variety of scales that will help expand your vocal range. Try to maintain control over your voice especially during dynamic changes. Practice. Hope that helps.
just keep sing every chance you get sing even when not necessary or if your talking to someone sing to them what your telling them..thats what my vocal coach told me to do and people tell me all the time to sing for them or i have beautiful voice(not bragging) also singing while you exercise that will help you with your breathing if thats whats wrong.or you can make up vocal exercises that are like the do re mi fa so la ti do but your own..well if you become famous one day and win a grammy thank me.lol hope it helps
unless you find the people who made william hung's CD and get them to make yours... i dont think you can start a career with that voice. there is no other way to improve it... it should come naturally... and you just dont have it. sorry to sound mean.. but you want the truth dont you? im not gonna sit here and lie to you like other people... good luck though!
