How much experience do you need to start a rock band ?!

Question: I would like to start a rock band with friends. I've been playing the guitar for about 2 years now. Is it enough ? I've heard some rumours about some guitarists starting their bands with no experience. Is that true ?

i agree. music is becoming bad. it seems many un talented bands are becoming stars. however all you need is a dream. i am in a rock band with my best friends. i swear, if you want something so bad you can do anything... ANYTHING!
i taught myself to play piano and guitar and i have done various rock gigs and competitions.
trust me if you want it so bad you will do it. and never give up. its hard work teaching yourself but you know at the end it will all be worth wile. DO NT GIVE UP YOU CAN DO IT!
Sid Vicious couldn't even play, LOL

All you need is confidence :-)
You need to have talent, not experience, if you ain't got that your stuffed!!
well yeah, the band police arent gonna arrest you for not having enough experience
as long as the band works itll be fine
as long as u can write good music i sure u can do well. oh good singer too
no experience, but i'd have thought talent maybe. good luck.
Experience is one thing talent is definately the other. If your group has a good sound then go for it. It usually takes years to get anywhere. Goodluck.
well if you go by the charts--**** all
Ask Fred Flintstone!
Give it a whirl and see how things go. If you've only ever played guitar on your own, you'll find it quite tricky at 1st keeping in time with the drums, bass and whatever other instruments your friends might play. In time, with practice, you'll all become much tighter. Your band may never be good enough even for local pub gigs, but don't let that deter you from giving it a go. You should find the whole experience is great fun.
In the 1960s, many bands couldn't play. Session musicians made the records as well as tracks for the bands to mime to. These days, people are more fussy, but a complete lack of talent needn't prevent you from having a musical career.
You'll never know if you don't try.

Get the band together, find somewhere to rehearse (where you can wind it up to 10!) and practice. Keep at it - if you find a sound that works and you get a gig, well that's just the start...

Go for it!!
I take it you are aware of X factor and all the other similarly veined drivel?

You need neither talent or experience to start a music career.

Unless you want to be around long enough to do a second performance.
Absolutely none.

Sadly, you don't even have to be particularly talented to become famous. Look at Kylie Minogue- hasn't written any of her hits- there are much better singers than her- a pair of hotpants (a throwback to the 1970s) saved her career- if you need a GARMENT to save your MUSICAL career then there is something wrong. But I'll give her something- she is cleverer than many of her fans and some of her stuff is distinctive eg Confide in me but the fact that her stuff is played far more than some of the truly outstanding innovators in music on radio stations that like to think of themselves as cutting edge is a joke really.
If you have the mindset you are ready.

Plus you will undoubtedly get better as you play with people in a group. Have fun!
