There is no way to be 100% certain why it is happened but many people do believe it is because John Lennon mooned Paul (pulled down his pants and flashed his bare ****).

The story is that while Paul sings the lyric "so he waits behind" John mooned him from inside the recording booth. That would be a fair explanation of why Paul laughed.

Some people claim that John Lennon was not at the sessions for the recording of this song because he was recovering from a car accident.

So we will never know exactly why, but I like the mooning story. It could very well be true because it is not out of character for Lennon as we all know.

I might be remembering wrong, but I think John mooned him while they were in the studio, so he laughed. I guess they thought it was a nice touch and kept it in. I might be thinking of a different song.

It's a funny song (in a dark and offbeat way) and they probably had to do a lot of takes. I imagine there were some where they had to stop and start again because they were cracking each other up. Once a case of giggles gets started it's hard to stop.
