Try to be true to the music. Write songs, and make music. Ever notice that nobody ever gives Amy Lee any crap? Its because she is a musician first and pop star way down the line. She is always thankful to the fans that come to her shows, and nice to reporters.

just make music. Sting played upright bass and sang with the Police.

The reason that there aren't many singers that play bass is because it is a very difficult thing to do. Usually the bass line and the vocals are very very different. Again, make music and have fun. There are thousands of great bands out there, but only 100 are on the bilboard top 100 at any given time. Most just barely make enough money to cover expenses. so remember to have fun. How can you "play" in a band if you dont have fun?

not sure of girl bands, but just look at primus, les claypool does bass and vocals and they are one of the biggest "underground" bands around. Besides, bands thrive off being unique and ahead of their time, dont try to fit a mold, you'll only fade away into the millions of other wanna-be musicians.

I believe the lead singer of BarlowGirl plays and sings, but I think she's a lead. Micki Steele was in The Runaways and The Bangles. The bass player for The Go-Go's, Kathy Valentine, only does backing vocals.
